Television Journalists and mispronunciations

Watching Seven News on Sunday, 13 June, I noticed presenter Rebecca Maddern's mispronunciation of the name of the American State, Arkansas (pronounced 'Ark -an- saw'), as 'Ark-an-sus.'

One assumes that those who work in television journalism have a good understanding of tricky foreign places names that often aren't pronounced how they are written.

Perhaps in future, those who write the Seven News autocues should write difficult place names phonetically, to avoid making their presenters look silly!
